Telekom Slovenije says it is trialling technology which will enable it to offer download speeds of up to 10Gbps for residential users on its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network.
The firm, which says it has fibre infrastructure passing 345,000 households, has completed lab testing and is now planning pre-commercial trials with a few dozen users in Ljubljana, Celje and Grosuplje, before a wider rollout. Telekom Slovenije had just over 200,000 fixed broadband subscribers at the end of March 2020, giving it roughly 32% of the overall market, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
