NCC reviews spectrum trading guidelines

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed it is reviewing its ‘Spectrum Trading Guidelines, 2018’, in line with recommendations made in the new National Broadband Plan 2020-2025, which was published in March.

Local newspaper The Nation cites a statement from NCC Public Affairs Director Henry Nkamadu as saying that the regulator’s board has decided to suspend the current guidelines until they can be updated to provide for the optimal use of spectrum. The move is aimed at ensuring that unutilised spectrum can be fairly traded between operators to facilitate the rollout of broadband infrastructure across the country by industry players.
