Canal+ has launched a new internet-delivered service in Poland “that connects the world of live channels with the world of VOD”.
Known as Canal+ and available to all internet users, it is contract-free and consists of four thematic packages (Film, Sport, Fun&Info and Kids), ranging in price from PLN10 (€2.2) to PLN50 a month.
There is also a package of free channels in the offer and viewers can change the packages they receive as and when they wish.
Meanwhile, the VOD element of the service consists of over 35,000 Polish and foreign films, series releases, sports releases, documentaries, publicity and PR programmes from – amongst others – Canal+ +, HBO, Fox, National Geographic, Paramount, History, Filmbox, BBC, TVN24 and CNN.
The new Canal+ service is being offered free of charge for a one-month trial period and has a wide range of features associated with VOD platforms including timeshift, start-over, backward EPG and multi-live. It is available via internet browsers, iOS and Android mobile apps, Android TV apps and Apple TVs. It also supports AirPlay technology and Google Cast, which allows images on a mobile device to be broadcast on a TV. The process of making the app available in the Google Play for Android devices is underway, while the iOS app will be made available in the App Store once the final stage of certification is completed.
Commenting on the new service, Grzegorz Skowron-Moszkowicz, director of building value at Canal+, said: “Although unlimited access to a rich library of films and serials is today a standard for VOD services, viewers we continue to look for quality information programmes, entertainment and sports emotions. This is best found in television, which was not always our first choice due to obstacles such as long-term agreements or rigid schedules. From today, Canal + eliminates these limitations, offering the best on demand and live channels in a single service available on many screens, in a subscription model and with technological solutions that have pleased millions of people. We are convinced that Canal + is interested in offering all those who are looking for a wide range of interesting and quality content available from today in an easy and friendly manner”.
