Azercosmos announces Middle East satellite services deal

Azercosmos, a major satellite operator in the South Caucasus, has signed a partnership agreement with TheAngle, a company that provides satellite network services in the Middle East.

According to the agreement, Azercosmos and TheAngle will provide what they call secure and highly reliable communication services including, but not limited to, the internet, network, voice, video, mobile, and other data services in the Middle East and Europe.

Azerspace-1, the telecommunication satellite operated by Azercosmos, provides reliable broadband and broadcast solutions to its customers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The satellite was launched in February 2013 and is equipped with 24 C-band transponders and 12 Ku-band transponders and is located at 46° East longitude. Azercosmos launched its second telecommunications satellite, Azerspace-2, in a geostationary orbit 45° East longitude in 2018.

Headquartered in Ontario, Canada, TheAngle is, it says, becoming a leading provider of managed and turnkey VSAT solutions across the Middle East and North Africa for customers engaged in the marine, military, and oil and gas sectors.

"We are pleased to continue our partnership with TheAngle, which will strengthen our presence in the satellite market and allow us to serve more customers," said Mark Guthrie, chief commercial officer at Azercosmos.

“This partnership will complement our existing services to continue to position our company as a firm provider in the energy sector in the Middle East,” said Hassaan Karim, general manager at TheAngle.
