Bell MTS to install FTTP network in La Salle, Manitoba

Bell MTS has announced plans to deploy plans to install a fiber to the premises (FTTP) network to approximately 800 homes and business sites in the Town of La Salle in the Rural Municipality of Macdonald, Manitoba. The FTTP infrastructure will support broadband services as high as 1.5 Gbps as well as such Bell MTS services as Whole Home Wi-Fi and Fibe TV.

Construction on the FTTP network is scheduled to begin this June. First customer connections should take place this summer, according to Bell MTS. La Salle will become one of more than 30 communities across the province that Bell MTS will serve via FTTP. In addition to this new deployment, the service provider notes that it has rollouts on tap this summer for Flin Flon and Churchill and has announced an FTTP deployment project that will pass approximately 275,000 homes and businesses in Winnipeg.

"The Municipality has long identified high-speed Internet access as critical infrastructure to improve the lives of those who live and do business in our Municipality," said Brad Erb, Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Macdonald. "This investment by Bell MTS will help us as we continue to build communities for the future in all areas of the Municipality."

"The Bell MTS CAN$1 billion investment plan for Manitoba is delivering advanced broadband access to more cities, towns, and rural communities than ever before," added Dan McKeen, vice chair of Bell MTS & Western Canada. "These technology investments are key to supporting the continued economic and social prosperity of Manitoba communities, and we are proud to welcome La Salle to our growing broadband network."
