Bouygues Telecom forms JV to accelerate FTTH deployment

Bouygues Telecom and Vauban Infrastructure Partners have inked an agreement to accelerate the deployment of FTTH in medium-density areas.

Bouygues Telecom has formed a dedicated company for this and launched a tender at the end of 2019, after which Vauban Infrastructure Partners was made as a majority shareholder of the new company. The company will aim to acquire long-term access rights from Orange, thus contributing to the co-financing of fibre optics alongside the main French operators.

In addition, Bouygues Telecom said it will cede to the company its access rights already acquired from Orange. The new company will provide Bouygues Telecom with all FTTH access services under a 30-year integrated access service contract and can also offer the same services to third-party operators.

Christian Lecoq, CFO of Bouygues Telecom said,"We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Vauban Infrastructure Partners, with whom we are already working in other areas of the territory to access FTTH lines."

Gwenola Chambon, MD and Co-founder of Vauban Infrastructure Partners said,"In a context where the demand for fibre optic access is clearly becoming a basic need, this operation will accelerate the deployment of FTTH networks and provide very high-speed access to as many people as possible."
