The Scottish Government has made Vodafone the sole supplier on its new procurement framework for mobile voice and data services.
It makes it possible for public sector organisations to call off contracts via direct award for the relevant services.
The framework covers a number of services, including voice and SMS, mobile device management, data services, 5G, Wi-Fi calling and mobile internet of things.
Fixed telephone services and wide area network connectivity are not included.
The framework is set to remain in place until March 2022. The Scottish Government said the benefits will include attractive tariff pricing, an easy route to procurement and access to some emerging technologies.
Digital ambition
Anne Sheehan, director, Vodafone Business UK commented: “We know that easy access to services is a major priority for public sector organisations; and we look forward to working closely with the Scottish public sector to explore how we can best support them, particularly during today’s challenges. Our aim is to help Scotland in its ambition to be a world leading digital nation.”
The company has a significant presence in Scotland. Glasgow was one of the first cities where Vodafone launched its 5G network in 2019, and a partnership with Glasgow University ensured it was the first educational institution in Scotland with a 5G network.
