Saudi telcos to provide free connectivity for citizens under quarantine during April

Saudi Arabia’s big three mobile network operators have agreed to waive telecoms bills in April for citizens and residents who remain under quarantine.

The Covid19 pandemic has forced millions of people across the region to work remotely and stay at home, in an attempt to control the spread of the virus.

A report by the Argaam news site suggests that Saudi Telecom (STC), Mobily (Etisalat) and Zain Saudi Arabia will allow their quarantined customers to refrain from paying their telecoms bills in the month of April.
Saudi Arabia remains the GCC’s biggest and most lucrative telecoms market, with more than 41 million subscriptions across the Kingdom.

The country also has the highest number of confirmed Covid 19 cases in the GCC region, with 1,299 cases already confirmed. On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia confirmed an additional 96 cases in one day.

As a regional hub for international business travel and pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia has taken strong measures to control the spread of the virus, including banning international travel and placing large sections of the population on lockdown.
