Around 45,000 intermediate and secondary students, as well as teachers, will benefit from the first phase of remote-learning activated by the Education Ministry.
It said that an institutional partnership has been established with Microsoft to provide the necessary solutions and software to enable educators, employees and students to use advanced technologies.
Planning and information assistant under-secretary Nawal Al Khater said the ministry has been adopting the latest technologies, including ‘Microsoft 365’ since His Majesty King Hamad announced in December 2014 the transformation to empowering digital learning.
She said the ministry expects around 45,000 students and teachers in the elementary and secondary levels to benefit from the first phase of the programme, which was completed in less than two weeks under the supervision of the specialised committee.
“The ministry has taken all necessary measures to ensure the continuation of the learning process during the period of the suspension of study,” she said in a statement.
“This includes taking advantage of the agreement reached with Microsoft to activate the Microsoft Teams platforms for all students and the transition to remote learning.
“Microsoft Teams is a digital platform that provides conversations, content, activities and applications in one place allowing teachers to create a dynamic learning environment while also providing schools, teachers and parents with all the resources needed to switch to a remote classroom with confidence.”
She also highlighted that the next phase of the programmes aims to provide all students across the kingdom with the latest technologies.
