The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has established application and bidding procedures for the auction of over 22,000 county-sized Priority Access Licences (PALs) in the 5G-suitable 3.5GHz band.
The auction will offer up to seven PALs in each county-based licence area, for a total of 22,631 PALs nationwide – the largest number of spectrum licences ever made available for bidding in a single auction. Each PAL will consist of a 10MHz unpaired channel in the 3.55GHz-3.65GHz band. The bidding process, which has been designated as Auction 105, is scheduled to commence on 25 June 2020.
