Indonesia launches Sigfox network

Sigfox Indonesia has officially launched its 0G network for IoT operation in Indonesia. In the first stage, Sigfox network is available in Greater Jakarta Area and Bandung. The launch of Sigfox 0G network is a part to support in advancing the use of IoT in Indonesia to further Indonesia’s readiness to embrace technology and its entrance to the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Sigfox Indonesia CEO, Johnny Swandi Sjam said: “IoT is a technology that can revolutionize and could answer a lot of human problems in every sector for a better quality of life. Today’s is our first step into making that a realization in focusing to provide the best technological experience for both our customers and partners.”

For customers, Sigfox’s 0G network will ease them in doing effective and efficient business processes, decision making can be done faster and better addressed. Sigfox Indonesia initially will offer two sensing devices, Personal Tracker, mostly beneficial for tracking vehicles for personal vehicles and whereabout; and Wallet Tracker that can be used as employee ID that can be monitored through apps.

For that, Sigfox Indonesia initiated collaborations to develop sensing device and applications developed by local IT professionals not only for manufacture industries and business in general but also utilizing IoT for property developers, farming, fisheries and many more. Sigfox is making an IoT ecosystem through a collaboration and MoU with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) focusing on supporting in development Indonesian high quality talent pool through educations about IoT technology and maximizing their potential to create a sophisticated sensing device and can be marketed domestically and internationally through Sigfox app market available in more than 70 countries.

Bpk Johnny Sjam said further: “Through the official launch we are aiming to create an implementable IoT suitable for Indonesia to answer the needs from various industry sectors.
