Strong growth for Czech O2 TV

The Czech Republic’s O2 TV gained over 100,000 subscribers in 2019.

In its latest set of results, O2 Czech says the number of customers to its IPTV and OTT services stood at 443,000 as of December 31, or 106,000 more than 12 months earlier.

These included those subscribed to its monthly pre-paid O2 TV Sports Pack online and O2 TV HBO and Sport Pack tariffs.

O2, which also operates in neighbouring Slovakia, had total revenues of CZK38,760 million (€1,536.3 million) in 2019, or 2% more than a year earlier.

Its EBITDA was CZK12,619 million (+13%) and net profit CZK5,460 million (+0.2%).

In his comments on the results, O2 CEO and chairman of the board of directors Jindrich Fremuth said: “In 2019, we improved the offer of all our key services. In addition to unlimited mobile tariffs, we introduced new home broadband internet and the O2 TV tariff portfolio. Growing customer base across all services confirms that the decision we made was right. O2 Spolu bundled packages continue supporting the growth.

“O2 TV number of customers showed the highest growth. Customers often subscribe for our IPTV to avoid worries with switching to DVB-T2. Thus, we have recorded the strongest customer base growth in the last quarter.”
