Netgem adds BritBox to UK line-up

Netgem is to add ITV and BBC streaming JV BritBox to the line-up of services it offers via ISPs and OTT devices in the UK market.

In addition to launching the £5.99 a month BritBox service on its platform, Netgem has also announced that it is adding 15 new HD channels to its line-up, which currently comprises over 100 live channels from providers including Freeview and Premier Sports.

The new channels being added are: sports channels Xtreme Sports, Speed TV, Sports TV and Football TV, gaming and esports channels Frag TV and Gaming TV, entertainment channels Gossip, Movies News and FNTV; food channels Taste Made and Cooking TV; nature channel Nature Vision; and music channels Karaoke TV, DJTV and Clubbing TV.

Sylvain Thevenot, managing director of Netgem.tv, said: “British television has a rich and diverse heritage that BritBox is making accessible to an ever-increasing audience and, with our service already accessible via 12 Ultrafast Fibre provides with a reach of a quarter of a million TV households and growing with the Fibre rollout in the UK, we are delighted to be part of that heritage’s future.”

Netgem reported in December that it had expanded its reach in the UK to 12 fibre broadband providers, making the streaming service available in about a quarter a million homes overall.

The service is offered as bundle with fibre broadband ISPs, based on its multiscreen TV product, which offers direct access to entertainment services with recommendations across live or on-demand streaming content.

“Consumers are spoilt for choice with too many video streaming services available on different platforms chasing eyeballs. Moves to aggregate a broad range of genres in one place will reduce fragmentation and strongly resonate with households. Therefore, these all you can eat offerings represent a viable option for telecoms including alternative networks to drive engagement and increase loyalty among their subscribers,” said Paolo Pescatore, tech, media and telco analyst at PP Foresight.

“BritBox and Netgem.tv cannot rest on their laurels and need to tirelessly strengthen their respective services with more content. Expect numerous new services to launch in the UK over coming months, which will increase the desire for always-available entertainment all in one place providing users with greater value.”
