PLDT Enterprise has partnered with the local government of Cagayan De Oro (CDO) to roll out public Wi-Fi service across high foot traffic areas, including the Port of CDO.
The Philippine Star writes that the PLDT subsidiary is keen to partner with the public sector to improve internet access and bring connectivity to more people. Meanwhile, in a related development the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has also announced it is ready to provide free internet access points in the province of Zambales through the government’s ‘Free Wi-Fi for All’ programme.
‘We intend to make Zambales a showcase for ICT initiatives … for many reasons, such as security, development of our local government units, our objective of uniting our country, and our vision to promote lasting peace and prosperity,’ DICT Secretary Greogorio Honasan said.
