Telia Norway said it has launched its new 5G network in Lillestrom, which was designated as an administrative borough at the beginning of 2020, when the number of Norwegian counties was cut from nineteen to eleven. The launch was announced at a business conference.
Companies and individuals in Lillestrom will be the first to use 5G before commercial operation starts later this year. Telia Norway plans to have built up a national 5G network by 2023. The operator intends to upgrade about 50 base stations in the Lillestrom area to 5G by the end of March and to have improved 4G equipment there, too.
