MORE than 10,000 homes and businesses have so far signed up to receive hyperfast broadband.
Aldham provider County Broadband has hailed the number as a key milestone in its bid to bring hyperfast speeds to villages in rural Essex.
However the full-fibre network will only be built in each village if at least 30 per cent of the community agree to take up the service.
Schools and community halls have been offered free connections.
Matthew Allum, is landlord at The Cricketers in Eight Ash Green, one of the businesses to sign up.
He said: “Reliable internet connectivity is no longer seen as just a luxury as more of our customers expect to be able to get online when they visit us.
“This new full-fibre network is an exciting opportunity for us and means we can provide more services.”
