The Luohuo District People's Government and the Shenzhen branch of China Mobile became strategic partners to expand 5G network coverage in the district.
The two sides signed a cooperation agreement to accelerate 5G penetration into other industries, expedite Luohu's industrial upgrading, and promote the development of its smart manufacturing industries.
The officials attending the signing ceremony included district mayor Liu Zhiyong and Zhang Yi, general manager of the telecoms company.
Luohu is dedicated to expanding the coverage of its 5G network, which is crucial for the development of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong port economic belt, the emerging Dawutong industrial belt and Hongling financial industrial belt in the district. China Mobile is a large-scale state-owned enterprise and one of the major telecoms infrastructure builders and telecoms project operators in the country. It is believed their cooperation will bring about win-win results.
According to the agreement, China Mobile will build at least 700 5G base stations in Luohu along with the relevant supporting infrastructural facilities, for which the Luohu government is expected to provide its full support for. The two sides will also invite new partners to help promote the application of 5G in local industries and will also focus on the construction of the smart city and e-governance based on big data and the internet of things.
Finally, the two will jointly explore the possibility of linking Luohu's 5G network with that of the neighboring Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to make the district a demonstration zone for the interconnectivity of network and infrastructure throughout the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
