A1 Belarus resumes LTE services in Gomel

Mobile operator A1 Belarus has resumed its LTE services in Gomel. The services are provided there through its partnership with the state-owned infrastructure operator beCloud.

The network works on the 1,800 MHz band in Gomel. A1 Belarus has enabled beCloud to use the infrastructure of its base stations, as well as the backbone network of the mobile operator. LTE services are provided over 136 base stations in the city, and 26 additional base stations are planned to start by the end of this year.

Last week, A1 Belarus announced that it launched a strategic partnership with beCloud under which the parties will jointly develop LTE services across the country. LTE services from A1 Belarus will be available in 97 percent of the country's area with 99 percent of its population by 2023.

A1 Belarus started providing 4G services on beCloud infrastructure in certain regions in March. More than 2,000 LTE base stations are due to be switched on using the 1,800 MHz band this year.

The second stage will start in January 2020. LTE equipment will be deployed using the 800 MHz band in order to cover rural areas. Three thousand base stations will be deployed in this stage within three years.
