This is another step towards the introduction of 5G in Macedonia which will provide technological advancement of the society and many new functionalities for the users.
“For several years now, we have been working intensively on the building of the new network infrastructure that will provide the 5G benefits to our users. Sо fаr, we hаve measured 5G speeds on several occasions in laboratory conditions. Today, for the first time, we measure speeds in real conditions, via the signal from the first 5G base stations placed in the center of Skopje. We have the first test 5G network in the country that will enable us to be ready to introduce this technology to all users when the time comes ”- said Nikola Ljusev, Chief Executive Officer of Makedonski Telekom.
The purpose of the test 5G network is testing the performances in real conditions which would enable new services for the users, such as: super-fast fixed wireless internet, VR (Virtual Reality) 3600 live video, VR gaming in real time, ultra-HD multi video streaming, etc.). The tests will be conducted during 2020 and based on them the network will be prepared for the commercial phase.
The introduction of this technology will not only create conditions for development of information technology, but also create conditions for full economic development of our country. The way of functioning of the society will be changed and we will see the benefits in all areas: medicine, education, business… The implementation of 5G in Europe will start in 2020 and its full implementation with all its advanced functionalities is expected in the period after 2025.
