Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin have the fastest 4G download speed in the country, followed by East China's Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, according to a report on broadband speed in China.
Among all the telecommunication operators, 4G network users of China Unicom enjoy the fastest download speed at 25.22 Mbit/s, followed by China Mobile at 23.89 Mbit/s and China Telecom at 23.63 Mbit/s in Q3.
The average download speed of China's mobile broadband users accessing the internet using 4G network reached 24.02 Mbit/s in the third quarter of this year, up 11.9 percent compared with the same period last year.
In terms of download speed of fixed broadband network, Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin rank top three, followed by East China's Jiangsu province and Central China's Henan province.
Shanghai's download speed of fixed broadband network reached 41.95 Mbit/s in the third quarter this year, while Beijing and Tianjin's were 40.4 Mbit/s and 39.54 Mbit/s, respectively, in the same period, according to a report on broadband rates in China.
The average download speed of China's fixed broadband network reached 37.69 Mbit/s in the third quarter of 2019, a jump of 12.7 Mbit/s from the same period last year, up 50.8 percent year-on-year and 6.3 percent quarter-on-quarter.
About 14 provinces' download speed of fixed broadband network surpassed the national level, the report said.
Apart from download speed, China also plays a world leading role in number of 4G users and optical fiber broadband users.
China's 4G users accounted for 79.1 percent of mobile phone users by the third quarter of 2019 and the number of optical fiber broadband users accounted for more than 91 percent of the total by the same period.
