Adnoc, Honeywell ink 10-year deal for AI-powered maintenance project

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has inked a 10-year deal with Honeywell to use the latter’s artificial intelligence-powered (AI) asset monitoring and predictive analysis platform for maintenance project.

Adnoc will utilise the platform to maximise asset efficiency and integrity across its upstream and downstream operations. The platform will help predict equipment stoppages, reduce unplanned equipment maintenance and downtime, in addition to increasing reliability and safety by using technologies such as machine learning and digital twins.

The project, which is a part of the Abu Dhabi’s state-owned oil giant’s flagship Cetralised Predictive Analytics and Diagnostics programme, will result in cost savings for Adnoc, the UAE’s state-held news agency, Wam reported.

Speaking about the use of technology-driven move, UAE minister of state and group chief executive officer of Adnoc, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, said: "In an era where the oil and gas industry is being disrupted on multiple levels, it is important that we continue to drive innovation and seek newly advanced technologies to further optimise performance and deliver sustainable returns.

“Adnoc’s predictive maintenance project is significant in its scale and application of AI technology and marks an important technological milestone for the industry.”

Meanwhile, chairman and CEO of Honeywell, Darius Adamczyk, said: "Honeywell Forge delivers the advanced capabilities business leaders need to harness big data to drive more efficient decision-making and exceed business goals.”

Al Jaber added that Honeywell was chosen to deliver the project following “a highly competitive and rigorous process”.

Honeywell will deploy Honeywell Forge Asset Monitor and Predictive Analytics solutions at its Panorama Digital Command Centre at its headquarters. The Panorama Digital Command Centre uses smart analytical models, AI, and big data to generate operational insights and recommend new pathways.
