Norway's Aker to cooperate with Saudi Aramco on digitalization

Norway’s Aker and Saudi Aramco, the world’s biggest oil producer, have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on industrial digitalization and green solutions, the Norwegian company said on Monday.

“To enable opportunities for digital transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco and Aker are exploring ways to work together and possibly establishing a joint venture with Cognite,” Aker said in a statement.

Oslo-based Cognite is an industrial software company majority owned by Aker, a holding company controlled by Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Roekke.

The parties have also agreed to explore possibilities of establishing joint industrial software and artificial intelligence research centers, Aker added.
