The Pakistan mobile market grew to 161.79 million subscribers in August, up from 161.49 million the previous month, according to the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA). This is the second consecutive month of growth, after a small drop in customers in June. The teledensity reached 78.03 percent of the population.
Market leader Jazz showed a small increase in customers during the month, to 59.39 million from 59.38 million in July. Telenor Pakistan grew to 44.74 million from 44.38 million the previous month, and Zong rose to 34.99 million from 34.83 million. Ufone finished August with 22.67 million customers, little changed compared to the previous month.
Pakistan's broadband subscribers base jumped to 73.43 million from 71.71 million in July. That included over 71.3 million using mobile internet and around 1.6 million on DSL.
