Cinturion signs deal for Saudi Arabia network

Earlier this month, Cinturion, a client of DRG Undersea Consulting, signed a multi-year deal worth over $70 million to build a Saudi Arabia network alongside two additional organizations. Cinturion “has chosen GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) and Eithad Atheeb Telecom to land its subsea cable and provide its cross-border terrestrial network to Jordan,” according to the press release on Cinturion’s website here. This project will offer unprecedented capacity to the region, providing much-needed bandwidth to data centers in the area.

The Trans Europe Asia System (TEAS) is made of three new cables from Cinturion, the Med East and Med West that connect to the India Middle East cable. The system will now have landings on either side of Saudi Arabia, including connectivity to NEOM.

Here is a quote from DRG’s blog about this announcement:

“Leveraging the latest technology and proven expertise, Cinturion is on the forefront of global fiber network development. This exciting TEAS initiative will provide much-needed capacity, speed and redundancy to companies in the region, particularly content and cloud service providers. We look forward to witnessing the full impact of the TEAS network, which is slated for initial service by the end of 2021.”
