Dutch IPTV operator KPN is introducing safe viewing environment on the iTV app specially created for children from 0 to 6 years old.
KPN customers with a Kidspackage or Plus package can reach this environment via the KPN iTV app for tablets (iOS and Android). Here children can see free films and series that KPN offers within the Kids-of-Plus package, such as Bob the Builder and Dora. Currently, the environment can only be reached via the KPN iTV app on tablets. KPN is looking at possibilities for other devices.
Stijn Nuijten, KPN Director Marketing Consumer Market explains, “Media safety is very important for parents, which is why we have developed an environment especially for children in which they can enjoy series and films carefree. Parents appreciate this protected and child-friendly solution, which allows them to offer their young children a lot of entertainment while at the same time ensuring that they are viewing content that fits in with their child’s world of experience.”
The environment has been specially designed by and for the intuitive use of children from 0 – 6 years old. For example, playback starts automatically and switches to full screen in seconds. And the next episode of a series also starts automatically.
Screen time is guaranteed by a timer to limit the maximum viewing time, the timer is now available for iOS and for the end of the year also for Android.
In addition, account is also taken of the parental lock settings, which all KPN customers can set up.
