The Czech public broadcaster Ceska Televize (CT) has launched a new version of its most visited HbbTV app iVysilani.
In addition to a design change, it has seen the addition of a number of new features including the ability to track content directly from the CT website and thematic breakdown of programmes by selected genres.
The app includes the entire CT video archive, which has been broadcast since 2006.
Commenting on the new version, Jan Zeman, the head of teletext and HbbTV, said: “The application is designed in the spirit of current trends in video platform development and brings a number of new functionalities. The introductory screen contains not only programme tips and the most viewed programmes, but also a thematic breakdown of the content into 12 basic genres, which are then divided into other detailed categories. Searching for programmes will be much easier for users”.
IVysilani offers viewers a more intuitive breakdown, including a choice of favourite shows for individual household members, easier search or live broadcast extensions and functionality for the ability to roll back in time. In addition, the programme pages bring more information and allow viewers to sort individual episodes according to several criteria. A new feature is a clearer selection of bonus videos.
Zeman added: “The new version also allows you to play content directly from the CT site. On the remote control, the viewer can activate the HbbTV function with another device to transfer the video image from the PC to the TV”.
CT has been providing HbbTV services since May 2012.
