DIGIMobil launches in Hungary

Hungarian broadband, pay-TV and telephony operator DIGI has finally launched its own 4G LTE mobile network, having won its 1800MHz licence back in September 2014. The ‘DIGIMobil’ service arrives complete with VoLTE and VoWiFi support, and DIGI is offering services initially on a no-monthly fee basis, with the following promotional tariff features: ‘unlimited domestic mobile internet’; free calls to DIGI fixed and mobile numbers; HUF5 (USD0.017) per minute calls to all other domestic and EU mobile and landlines; free SMS between DIGIMobil numbers (HUF21 for all other SMS). Maximum download/upload speed of the DIGIMobil mobile internet service is 22.1Mbps/7.5Mbps, dropping to 256kbps/256kbps after using 50GB of data in a month.

DIGIMobil is initially restricted to subscribers of DIGI (including Invitel) fixed internet, pay-TV or telephone services. The operator also highlights that ‘the availability of the service is not complete, the coverage of our mobile network is constantly expanding’.
