Virgin Media has connected more than 2,000 homes and businesses in the Welsh village of Pontyclun to ultrafast broadband. This was the company's first ever use of Openreach ducts in Wales.
The roll-out is part of Virgin's Project Lightning network expansion programme to deliver full fibre directly to premises. Virgin used existing Openreach cable ducts, as part of Ofcom's Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) remedy, to complete the Pontyclun build close to bridges.
