German network operator RFT kabel has announced that it is planning to add an IPTV service to its portfolio, via a strategic partnership with platform provider BrightBlue.
The BrightBlue platform is aimed at fibre-optic, cable and VDSL network operators and contains more than 150 TV channels, including more than 75 in HD quality, over 150 radio stations and more than 30 apps. It also features cloud-based interactive functions such as instant replay, instant restart and live pause. TV streaming in 4K quality is also part of the multiscreen platform, which also extends to mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
“We look forward to the strategic cooperation with BrightBlue. With their know-how, we plan to set up our own IPTV product for our customers by the end of the year,” said Stefan Tiemann, MD of RFT kabel. “As a regional carrier, we are interested in solutions that are both powerful and easy to use. This enables us to offer our customers a future-proof television experience, including HD and 4K content on demand.”
Uwe Nickl, MD of BrightBlue and Deutsche Glasfaser, added: “RFT kabel has decided to take a step into the future with BrightBlue – the future of TV entertainment. I would like to thank you for this trust in our product and service. With the implementation of the IPTV offering, customers will receive high quality, convenient television entertainment that meets the needs of the digital age.”
