BDCom to launch IPTV in Bangladesh

A private company declared to launch state of the art IPTV ((Internet Protocol television) service in the country as the first company from Pohela Boishakh, first day of the first day of Bengali calendar.

Apart from the IPTV service, BDCom Online Ltd will also offer existing internet and voice-based internet telephony service and all these packages together will be called ‘Triple Play Service’.

At a press conference today at Best Western La Vinci Hotel, BDCom, the country’s one of the oldest internet companies declared to launch their new package – Broadband360° – where customers will get safe broadband internet with parental control facilities.

The speed of the package is expected to be about 100 Mbps, said SM Golam Faruk Alamgir Arman, managing director of the company.

“We have IP telephony service and Internet service from the beginning and after getting permission from the telecom regulator, we are now moving on to launch the IPTV where customers will get access to watch about 120 television channels,” said Arman.

He said their service has the capacity to use full control on internet using of the children even controlling the time and the contents.

And for IPTV they have contacted with two content providing companies that will support their content, Arman also added.

BDCom said Broadband360° will provide services to both home and business firms.

With other facilities, the customer will get 75Mbps for home service at the cost of Tk 2,999 while the 100Mbps household package will cost Tk 3,999.

For business the cost will be 9,999 for 75Mbps and the100Mbps package will cost Tk11,999 in a month.
