IPTV drives Magyar Telekom growth

Magyar Telekom’s TV revenues rose by 6.4% year-on-year to HUF12.2 billion (€38.4 million) in Q4 2018 thanks to the growing IPTV subscribers base in the two countries it operates in.

In its home market Hungary, the TV customer total stood at 1,087,724 as of the end of December 2018, up 6% on a year earlier. At the same time, blended TV ARPU was unchanged at HUF3,437.

In Macedonia, the TV customer total rose by 9.3% to 128,4506, while TV revenues grew by 16.6% year-on-year.

Magyar Telekom Group as a whole had revenues of HUF173,997 million (+7.8%) in Q4, with its EBITDA amounting to HUF46,242 million.

In his comments on the results, when referring to Hungary, CEO Tibor Rékasi said that the company had provided nearly 300,000 new households with 100Mbps internet access in 2018. Furthermore, with its strong performance of both its fixed and mobile business it was able to focus on the third pillar of its core business strategy, namely the FMC customer base.

In 2018 Magyar Telekom remained the only true integrated player in Hungary and took action to reinforce its leading position in this market.
