Russian national operator Rostelecom deployed around 100 kilometres of fiber optic line in the Republic of Mari El in 2018 under the framework of the federal programme to eliminate the digital divide. It deployed Wi-Fi hotspots in nine villages in the Novy-Toryal municipality. It plans to set up another 27 hotspots in the region this year.
Rostelecom has expanded its PON in the Vologda region in January. More than 650 households have been covered in the settlements of Nadeyevo and Nepotyagovo in Vologda municipality.
