KPN announces new FTTH expansion zones

Following its recent announcement of major fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) expansion plans, KPN of the Netherlands has disclosed four localities where it will ‘relaunch’ its FTTH rollout campaign, reports Dutch-based Telecompaper. Deployments will begin with over 10,000 households in Arnhem (Het Spijkerkwartier), Dongen (De Biezen), Helvoirt and Zwolle Noord-Oost, with ‘demand aggregation’ to be conducted before proceeding with the construction, the report adds.

Recall that on its website in late November KPN stated that it will ‘selectively’ expand its current FTTH network footprint (covering ‘more than 2.3 million’ households) by one million additional homes by the end of 2021. KPN’s other targets for the period include growing its ‘converged’ (fixed/mobile service subscribing) households by 300,000 and its converged post-paid mobile user base to 70% of its post-paid users by the end of 2021.
