Afghan regulator starts consultation on 4G spectrum allocation

The Afghanistan Telecoms Regulatory Authority (ATRA) has officially launched a public consultation for efficient spectrum usage, in particular to assign frequencies for 4G services and determine an allocation mechanism for mobile telecom service providers.

The regulator said all telecom service providers were invited to participate in a first meeting concerning this matter to share comments and discuss related issues. The process is run and managed by ATRA foreign technical and professional specialists, and it is attempting to create effective, efficient and reasonable conditions for development and expansion of LTE services in the country, in accordance with market needs.
