4G networks already reach 4,222 municipalities in Brazil, where 94.4 percent of the country's population lives. This represents a 44 percent increase in one year, according to the July report of the Brazilian Telecommunications Association (Telebrasil). Over the 12 months to July, 1,271 new municipalities received 4G coverage.
3G coverage, in turn, reached 5,301 municipalities, where 99.3 percent of the Brazilian population lives.
Some 36 million new 4G Sim cards were activated in the 12 months. In all, the country already has 120.6 million 4G Sim cards and 67.3 million 3G Sim cards. In total, Brazil has 207 million mobile internet users.
Including also fixed access, the July total reached 238 million internet subscribers, of which 30.5 million on fixed broadband, a segment that grew 9.5 percent in 12 months, with 2.6 million new accesses.
