Orange Poland reaches 300,000 FTTH customers

Orange Poland serves 300,000 clients with its FTTH services and 3 million households are already covered by broadband internet. More than 80 percent of clients taking fibre internet from Orange are coming from a competitor, the company said.

After the third year of the company's investment programme, 10 percent of houses and offices within the fibre network coverage have become the operator's clients.

In the second quarter, the number of Orange Fibre users increased by 39,000 and within eight months, 100,000 clients have decided for the offer. Most clients are in Warsaw (55,000), Wroclaw (21,000) and Krakow (18,000).

The operator is investing in the fibre-optic network in 116 cities across the whole of Poland. In 34 cities, the fibre network is available to more than 50 percent of inhabitants. The cities with the biggest coverage include Lublin, Olsztyn, Elbląg, Slupsk and Opole.

In the first half, nearly 50 percent of the investments have been implemented in small and medium-sized cities. Ever more family homes are connected to the network; and the operator aims to reach a 10-percent share of single family homes in coverage.

The target is to cover 5 million households, for which the company has reserved PLN 4 billion in the period 2016-2020. That makes Orange the biggest investor in fibre-optics networks in Poland, the company claims.
