Polish mobile operator P4, which trades under the Play brand, has awarded a contract to Ericsson to expand its radio access network (RAN) infrastructure.
The deal includes RAN components as well as Operation Support Systems (OSS) with Ericsson Network Manager. Play says the deal will help it improve mobile broadband coverage and enhance subscriber experience. Play has previously used Huawei of China as its equipment supplier, and Ericsson states that it is being contracted as an ‘additional partner’ rather than replacing Huawei outright. The cellco says it expects to effectively complete its nationwide RAN rollout by 2020.
