Charter Communications Inc. has announced the launch of Spectrum Internet Gig for residential customers and Spectrum Business Internet Gig for small and medium-sized business clients in Bowling Green and nearby communities, delivering a one-gigabit (1 billion bits per second) connection to some homes and businesses.
Priced at $104.99 a month for new residential customers, Spectrum Internet Gig will be available throughout virtually all of Spectrum’s 41-state service area by the end of 2018.
With gigabit internet, residential customers have access to faster and more powerful speeds for streaming video, online gaming, downloading music and more across multiple devices.
Spectrum's announcement comes after news in February that both North Central Communications of Lafayette, Tenn., and South Central Rural Telecommunication Cooperative of Glasgow had signed nonexclusive telecommunications and cable TV franchise agreements with Warren County Fiscal Court. Both companies promise to offer internet speeds of up to one gigabit.
In addition, AT&T announced plans in March to launch high-speed fiber optic service in parts of Warren County, offering a service called Internet 1000 that could bring broadband gigabit internet service to select homes, apartments and businesses.
