Belarusian start-up plans regional network ‘Free Wi-Fi BY’

Belarusian start-up Business Network, which launched a free Wi-Fi network in the capital Minsk on 19 April 2018, has published an updated map of its coverage, which now extends to 115 public access points in the city.

With a focus on shopping centres, cafes, petrol stations, hotels, hospitals and banks, the ‘Free Wi-Fi Minsk’ service allows the user to browse the internet for ‘free, for an unlimited amount of time’. In the coming months Business Network says it intends to expand its coverage to the Oktyabrskaya and Kupalovskaya metro rail stations in the capital, while also progressing plans to continue the buildout of a regional public Wi-Fi network, currently under construction.

The newcomer’s regional network, which is set to be united under the branding ‘Free Wi-Fi BY’, is already live in some parts of Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Mogilev and Molodechno, it says.
