Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has begun deployment of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in business parks in 75 municipalities, enabling bandwidths of up to 1Gbps for 49,000 enterprises from next year. This marks the third phase of Telekom’s rollout of fibre-optic infrastructure in commercial areas, which began last year and will see 3,000 business parks across the country connected to the firm’s FTTH network.
The new deployments are set to take place in towns and cities including Aachen, Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dresden, Kiel, Munich and Ulm, with around 3,500km of fibre-optic cables expected to be installed.
