Turk Telekom boosts Q1 sales, EBITDA by 8.8%, 29.1%

Turk Telekom posted consolidated revenues of TRY4.7 billion (USD1.2 billion) in Q1 2018, up by 8.8% year-on-year, while EBITDA grew 29.1% to TRY2.0 billion with an EBITDA margin of 42.1%, supported by group synergies and improved efficiencies. Operating profit in January-March 2018 increased by 35.5% y-o-y to TRY1.1 billion. CAPEX spending was 45% higher than the year-ago quarter, at TRY581 million, and the group generated TRY56 million net income in the first three months of the year (compared to TRY66 million in 1Q17).

The Turkish fixed and mobile quad-play operator reported that its total number of subscribers reached 42.6 million at 31 March 2018 following 916,000 net additions in Q1, the best first-quarter performance over the past ten years. Net subscriber acquisitions year-on-year reached 3.3 million. In the mobile market, net subscriber additions more than doubled compared to 1Q17, increasing to 332,000 in Q1 2018, with 95% of net additions post-paid, lifting the post-paid subscriber ratio to 56% compared to 53% a year earlier. The group also disclosed that LTE network population coverage expanded to 87% in March 2018 from 75% a year ago.
