Millicom has launched Tigo One TV in Costa Rica, kicking off the expansion of the next-gen service across Latin America.
Released in Colombia in September 2017, the TiVO-based hybrid service integrates linear content from Tigo’s pay-TV catalogue with over-the-top (OTT) and video-on-demand (VOD) platforms such as Crackle, YouTube, FOX and HBO.
In Costa Rica, where Tigo is the largest pay-TV provider, the service will be available for double-play, convergent subscribers with HD packages and fixed broadband.
In addition to integrating content from 15 different providers into a single platform, Tigo One TV includes recommendation features based on the viewer’s habits and intelligent digital video recording.
Under the terms of Millicom’s pan-regional agreement with TiVo, the One TV service will be gradually launched in other Latin American countries, including Bolivia, Paraguay and most of Central America. Costa Rica marks the second step in such regional deployment.
