The business division of UK ISP TalkTalk has announced that it has started a trial of 330Mbps-capable hybrid fibre G.fast broadband technology for Wholesale and Partner customers. A commercial launch is expected to follow this summer. Pete Tomlinson, Commercial Director at TalkTalk Business, said: ‘As we continue to champion the drive towards a full fibre future, which for many is still too far away, G.fast can play an important role in helping customers enjoy the speeds they deserve.’
In terms of ‘full fibre’ activity, the telco notes that it intends to extend its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) Ultra Fibre Optic (UFO) network – a joint venture with Sky – beyond launch city York to cover three million premises in the coming years.
