Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Azim Ahmedkhadzhayev and his Afghan counterpart Shahzad Ariebi discussed development of cooperation in the sphere of information and communication technologies between the two countries, the Ministry reports.
They paid a special attention to the organization of high-speed transit communication channels between the countries, high-speed access to the international Internet network and preparation of staff in this field.
Currently, Uzbekistan is completely dependent on the northern Internet channel, which passes through Kazakhstan and Russia. Now the issue on organization of the southern direction – Turkmenistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and China - is being considered.
