Beijing is planning to step up efforts to improve access to internet services across the country.
People’s Daily writes that plans include reducing prices for mobile internet access by at least 30% and scrapping mobile data roaming fees, with the latter development following on from the abolition last year of domestic roaming fees for long-distance calls.
Meanwhile, the government also pledged to: ‘do more to speed up broadband and bring down internet rates, achieve high-speed broadband access in both urban and rural areas and make free internet access available in more public places.’
