Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nokia Co to launch 5G tests for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The MoU was signed recently in Barcelona by Eng. Ahmed Aboudoma, Mobily CEO, and Mr. Ashish Chowdhary, Chief Customer Operations Officer at Nokia.
Mobily and Nokia are collaborating in a strategic vision to develop 5G towards the next generation of advanced bandwidth network; whereas the MoU includes introducing new technologies in Mobily network like; 4.5G LET, and 4.9G, 5G, transport modernization for both optic and IP, fixed wireless access technologies including FastMile and wireless PON.
Eng. Ahmed Aboudoma, Mobily CEO, confirmed by saying, “we are working in Mobily to achieve one of the pillars of the Kingdom Vision, in which the Kingdom is seeking to increase high speed internet coverage in different regions of the Kingdom, and enhance the quality of connection. In order to achieve this goal, we are currently working on signing a MoU with Nokia and other enterprises that has a track record in launching new technologies over Telecom Towers.
This MoU comes as a contribution from Mobily to achieve one of most important goals of Kingdom Vision 2030, which focuses on setting up Kingdom technologies to be prepared for any new technical updates in the international Telecom industry.
