The main Iranian mobile operator, Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran (MCI), reported that it has expanded its 3G and 4G network and now has coverage in all 1,246 Iranian cities, the Financial Tribune reported. The operator started offering 3G and 4G services three years ago.
MCI said in a blog post that it was the first operator to offer such services in all Iranian cities. MCI has 47 million active users in the country of 80 million people. According to the International Telecommunication Union, by the end of 2016, 53 percent of Iranians actively used the internet and 33.8 percent of the population had mobile internet service subscriptions.
