Orange Spain has reached an agreement with the city council of Algeciras in the southern Cadiz province to connect over 53,000 homes and businesses to its fibre-optic network. Under the terms of the deal, the company will invest EUR 8.7 million to install the FTTH infrastructure, reaching 95 percent of local premises. Orange has already invested some EUR 1.9 million to extend 4G coverage to practically all of the local population.
In December the company said it was accelerating its Spanish fibre-optic rollout and is now targeting 16 million connected households by 2020, up from 14 million.
