Russia mobile operators increase LTE base stations by 32 percent in 2017

The number of LTE base stations of the four major Russian mobile operators grew by 32 percent in 2017 to 159,800, according to a statement from Roskomnadzor.

Mobile operator Megafon launched the exploitation of 21,868 LTE base stations in 2017, up by 49.6 percent. MTS launched 11,159 LTE base stations, up by 32.8 percent. Beeline deployed 7,268 LTE base stations, up by 38.1 percent.

Megafon owned a total of 65,939 LTE base stations at the end of 2017, MTS had 45,226 LTE base stations, and Beeline and Tele2 Russia owned 26,362 and 22,290 LTE base stations, respectively.
