Bell Canada has selected Ericsson’s MediaFirst IPTV platform as the basis for its next generation multiscreen TV services, looking to offer an ‘enhanced, personalised and converged multiscreen TV experience’ to its more than 1.5 million ‘Fibe TV’ and ‘Alt TV’ subscribers in Canada, a press release announced.
MediaFirst will be integrated with Bell’s existing Ericsson Mediaroom IPTV platform, adding flexibility to easily incorporate third party apps, support a wider range of devices, and provide ‘a superior user experience’. MediaFirst is a software-defined, media-optimised cloud-based multiscreen TV platform including in-home pay-TV, ‘TV Everywhere’ and over-the-top (OTT) services, designed to ‘embrace all content sources and delivery networks’.
